Anela Lauren is a classically trained pianist and harpist who has discovered that the freedom of jazz and improvisation provide meaning and connection in an ever changing world. Anela has found her calling in adapting a wide range of music to the celtic harp; particularly contemporary folk, world and rock. Anela also brings her own unique interpretation to classical, traditional and Celtic music.
While in Hawaii, Anela partnered with "the slack-key lady" Cindy Combs to form a Hawaiian jazz group entitled Lilia. Anela currently plays in an island-style duo with Rita Trujillo-Batiste and Marc Hutt called The Aloha Sisters. The Aloha Sisters play original and Hawaiian tunes, with beautiful vocal harmonies.

Anela is a confessed natural beauty junkie. She spent 20 years in the Hawaiian Islands, mostly on the garden island of Kaua'i. She has spent some time in Taos, New Mexico, and the beautiful music mecca of Lyons, Colorado has been home for the last 6 years. While in Hawai'i, she developed her distinctive style - fluid and graceful improvisation with kaleidoscopic overtones. Following the 2013 release of "Harpin' on the Dead", Anela formed a trio with Grateful Dead Hour’s David Gans and slack-key great Stephen Inglis entitled Fragile Thunder. This dynamic and innovative group has played at the Skull & Roses festival, Just Exactly Perfect festival, and were scheduled to play at Lock'n 2020. |
